Our Story

From Ukanafun to the world — the journey of the Ntekpe family and the birth of a foundation.

From Ukanafun to the World

The story of The Chief Ntekpe Family Foundation begins in the heart of Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria — a community shaped by resilience, faith, and an unwavering belief in the power of education and service.

The Roots

Chief Samuel Akpan Ntekpe was more than a community leader — he was a visionary who believed that every child deserved access to quality education, every family deserved healthcare, and every community deserved the chance to thrive. His life was a testament to selfless service, and his legacy continues to inspire all who knew him.

Mrs. Jessie Samuel Ntekpe (née Jessie Sampson Udoidiong) was the family’s pillar of faith, love, and unity. Her nurturing spirit and devotion to her children and community laid the moral foundation upon which this organization stands. Her maiden name, Udoidiong — meaning “peace of the land” — captures the harmony she brought to every life she touched.

The Vision Takes Shape

Their son, Chief Mfonabasi Samuel Ntekpe, known as Obong Idoreyin (Chief of Hope), carried these values across continents. As a Senior Engineer at a world-renowned nonprofit institution in Rochester, Minnesota, he witnessed firsthand how an organization built on the principle that the needs of the people it serves must always come first can achieve extraordinary outcomes. He saw how teamwork, innovation, and a relentless commitment to service — when backed by structured systems and strategic investment — can transform entire communities. He asked himself a simple question:

“What if the same precision, dedication, and excellence I bring to my profession could be channeled into uplifting the communities that shaped me?”

The answer was The Chief Ntekpe Family Foundation — a structured, transparent, and globally credible philanthropic institution built on the bedrock of family values.

The father was a Chief — Chief Samuel Akpan Ntekpe. The son is a Chief — Chief Mfonabasi Samuel Ntekpe. So which Chief Ntekpe does the foundation name honor? Both. That is the beauty of it — the Foundation bears the father’s title and the son’s promise simultaneously. The name does not distinguish between the two, because legacy was never meant to belong to one generation. It IS the legacy — passed forward, carried together, and built upon by each generation that follows.

From Family Values to Global Impact

Today, the Foundation operates across education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation. Every program, every outreach, and every scholarship carries the DNA of the Ntekpe family’s guiding principles:

  • Integrity in every action
  • Service above self
  • Legacy as a living, breathing commitment
  • Empowerment over dependency
  • Unity across borders and generations
  • Faith as the foundation of all endeavors

This is not just a foundation. It is a family’s promise to the world.
